UTILITIES TECHNICAL COORDINATOR

Summarized Position Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will coordinate, implement, document and/or optimize various Water Distribution and Wastewater Collection System Operations and Maintenance programs. The Coordinator will respond to internal and external technical water and wastewater system and operational inquiries and will assist the Utilities Supervisor with the coordination and development of written reports to meet Provincial and Federal regulatory requirements.
Our Ideal Candidate:
- Water Engineering Technology Diploma or similar or equivalent combination of education and/or experience
- A minimum of 3 years experience in a related position
- Valid Class 5 B.C. Driver’s license
- Environmental Operators Certification Program (EOCP) Level I in a Water Distribution or Waste Water Collection (preferred)
- Cross Connection Control Inspector and/or Cross Connection Control Tester Certification (preferred)
- Cross Connection Control Program Development and Maintenance (preferred)
- Occupational First Aid Level I (preferred)
- Knowledge experience with Water and Sewer Utility O&M Procedures and Regulations, including WorkSafeBC, Ministry of Environment, Interior Health Regulations, SCADA Systems, Utility Operations Regulations, construction and repair procedures and techniques for utility systems and related Bylaws
- Strong familiarity of the Provincial Drinking Water Act and Regulations along with the Municipal Sewage Regulation and applicable CWK water and sewer use Bylaws
- Knowledge experience and ability to lead Cross Connection Control and Water Metering Programs
- Practical knowledge and experience with online instrumentation, SCADA, PLC’s, HMI’s and GIS
- Ability to understand and follow safe work guidelines, procedures and to work in a safe manner
- Strong working knowledge of water quality monitoring programs, sampling, and field testing
- Sound experience and knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
- Excellent technical writing skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team to exercise independence of judgment and action
- Able to courteously interact with the public and co–workers under stressful conditions and/or tight timelines
- Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to plan and prioritize effectively
- Detail orientated with strong administrative and organizational skills
