 RECREATION SERVICES ATTENDANT

18 MONTH TERM

The City of West Kelowna’s Recreation and Culture department is looking to fill a full time 18-month term position. This position is covering an 18-month maternity leave. 

Summarized Position Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will be the first point of contact with the public, community groups, contractors, instructors, volunteers and staff regarding recreation programs, activities, and special events. The Recreation Services Attendant will assist with planning and delivery of the program events and will occasionally work as the program leader. This position will open and close facilities, set up and take down equipment, purchase and maintain inventory and will complete cash outs.

This position will have a flexible work schedule and may be required to work split shifts including evenings and weekends.  A current police check will be required for this role.

Our Ideal Candidate:

• Grade 12 education
• A minimum of 2 years’ experience in Recreation, Sports and Leisure or a combination of education and experience
• Occupational First Aid – Level I
• Current Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector
• Valid Class 5 B.C. Drivers License
• Post-secondary education in Recreation, Sport, and Leisure (Preferred)
• Good organizational skills, with the ability to plan and prioritize effectively
• Able to take initiative, work independently, and exercise good judgment in the implementation of programs and events
• Demonstrated computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite
• Strong customer service skills
• Excellent communication skills – verbal and written
• Computer graphics skills
• Ability to work flexible work hours, including split shifts, evenings and weekends
